Wexford’s strawberry growers are this weekend enjoying their sector’s chief promotional event of the year in the shape of the 47th Wexford Strawberry Festival.

Enniscorthy fruit grower Cyril Wheelock, who chairs the festival, has been growing fresh fruit for sale for 30 years, since he took over the family farm in the mid-1950s.

With his wife Margaret and three sons Warren, George and Thomas – plus 20 employees at peak season...
