‘Disempowered people living in peripheral housing estates' feature in this collection of black and white photographs by photographer Pete Smyth.

Smyth spent five years living in such an estate in the 1980s. He styled the children pictured above in urban warfare gear as a satirical exploration of how some locals were patronised by people in positions of authority....
