Six months ago Sky quietly started trialling an advertising service that aimed to take television ads into the internet age. Now, with a successful trial under its belt and with some big-name clients in the bag, Sky's AdSmart is about to be officially unveiled in Britain.

AdSmart allows advertisers to segment TV audiences and create customised ads for specific target markets.
