The cabinet is likely give the go-ahead to a €6 billion strategic investment fund this week.The fund will draw on the cash remaining in the National Pension Reserve Fund (NPRF).

The government is likely to approve legislation to establish the fund and transfer some €6 billion from the NPRF to be used for commercial investment in the Irish economy.

Investments will have to meet commercial benchmarks and secure co-funding from the private sector, but...
