The government looks set to save about €50 million on mortgage interest relief this year, after revising figures for its likely spend.
In a response to a parliamentary question, Minister for Finance Michael Noonan said that the estimated cost of mortgage interest relief was likely to be €350 million this year. Previous estimates had suggested that the relief would cost the government €400 million in 2014.
