The Department of Education spent more than €327,000 probing allegations against a school principal who last week secured a High Court order halting her dismissal.

Lawyers fees made up two-thirds of the costs incurred during the five-year inquiry into allegations against the principal, whose work was described by Mr Justice John Hedigan as "very satisfactory".
