State fund seeks ruling to buy Aer Lingus shares

The National Pension Reserve Fund has asked the Irish Takeover Panel for guidance on whether it can buy Aer Lingus shares, without them being counted as part of the block of shares held by the government.

The National Pension Reserve Fund has asked the Irish Takeover Panel for guidance on whether it can buy Aer Lingus shares, without them being counted as part of the block of shares held by the government.

The outcome could have an important impact on Ryanair’s bid for the airline.

The government holds just over 28 per cent of the airline’s equity following its flotation.
