Necessity-driven entrepreneurship is the main reason for people starting up businesses in Ireland.

Paula Fitzsimons, national coordinator of The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), which will be releasing its 2011 Report on Ireland in August, said the indication so far was that more companies were set up in Ireland in 2011 than in 2010.
