IT Sligo students Matthew Padden, Calum Cawley Aine Conaghan and James McNamara won the Microsoft Imagine Cup in 2011. The winning concept is now being brought to commercial reality by James McNamara and his colleagues in CleverMiles.

James McNamara was finishing his Masters in Research in Cloud Computing at IT Sligo in 2010 when he and three fellow students, Calum Cawley, Aine Conaghan and Matthew Padden, entered the Microsoft Imagine Cup. They went on to be the first team from Ireland to win first prize at the prestigious student software development competition last summer, coming first out of 350,000 worldwide entries.
