Start-up firms can win E100,000 in capital

A start-up business could win a E100,000 injection of capital in an all-Ireland business competition.

Entrepreneur Denis O'Brien will chair the final judging panel of the All-Island Seedcorn competition, which offers seven prizes totalling €230,000.The contest is run by InterTradeIreland, one of six cross-border bodies set up under the Good Friday Agreement.

“Most companies will take money from wherever they can get it, but venture capital investment is educated money,” said Des Fahey, chairman of the Irish Venture Capital Association.
