Over €600,000 has been spent by tourism agencies promoting The Gathering in the lead-up to next Saturday's American Football tie between Notre Dame and Navy at Aviva Stadium. This includes payment towards almost 40 pre-game commercials on US national TV channel CBS.
Billed as the Emerald Isle Classic, the game will see around 35,000 fans from the US travel to Dublin during the course of this week, and many of the city's hotels are already heavily booked.
