Betting firm Sportingbet has agreed the terms of a stg£530 million takeover by Britain's biggest bookmaker William Hill, although there has not been a formal offer.

Betting firm Sportingbet has agreed the terms of a stg£530 million takeover by Britain's biggest bookmaker William Hill, although there has not been a formal offer.

A statement from William Hill's partner, GVC Holdings, said any deal would be subject to agreement on certain detailed terms and conditions.

It said Sportingbet's board had confirmed that if an offer was made it would recommend it to shareholders.
