Hendre on St George’s Avenue in Killiney in south Co Dublin

Situated on Killiney Hill above Killiney Bay, the villa was designed to maximise the unobstructed light that bounces off the Irish Sea at its doorstep. It sits on the site of Lt Col E Watson’s large 1906 estate, and was, apparently, inspired by the work of German-American architect Mies van der Rohe when it was completely rebuilt in 2007 by architects Smith and Kennedy.
