Anthony Lane, the film critic with the New Yorker magazine, once intimated that the only movies worth seeing were either trashy movies that offered simple short-term thrills (eg, Mission Impossible) or classic movies that offered a lifetime of enjoyment and reflection (eg, Citizen Kane).
The same could be said of books. There is a certain surreal enjoyment to be had from reading books that appear so outrageously trashy that the author may have inadvertently stumbled...
