The unemployment rate in Spain shrank in June as the country’s battered economy began to recover after emerging from recession last year, its government said today.

The number of people registered as unemployed dropped by 122,684 in June to 4.45 million, the Labour Ministry said in its monthly report.
Adjusted to smooth out seasonal factors, the number registered as jobless dropped by 16,113 in June, marking the 11th consecutive monthly decline.
