South Korea cuts trade links with North

As recriminations continue between South and North Korea over the sinking of a battleship, the South has announced the severing of economic ties with its neighbour, writes Máirtin O’Riada in Beijing

The relationship between North and South Korea dropped to a new low over the past week, as the rivals rattled sabres amid an escalating dispute over the sinking of a South Korean warship.

South Korea has accused the North of attacking the ship as a deliberately provocative gesture.
