There is no doubt that the recession has brought some pretty awful things to our country - but also some positive effects, too.

It is hard to imagine how we survived before the concept of 'pop-up' anythings came along.

There is no doubt that the recession has brought some pretty awful things to our country, including lousy weather, a Labour Party which actually likes to punish workers and a surge in the number of 'celebrity economists'.

Of course, it is also important to remember that the recession has also had some positive effects, including the near-destruction of Fianna Fáil, a drop or two of humility and bucketloads of perspective.
