16th April, 2011

The Law Society is to hold a special general meeting of solicitors to discuss the crisis over professional practice insurance.

It will take place on May 4, following an unanimous decision made at a special Law Society council meeting last Monday.

The meeting follows the decision of the Solicitors Mutual Defence Fund (SMDF) - which was insuring up to two thirds of the country’s 8,000 solicitors - to stop writing insurance.
