Irish marketing executives have identified several opportunities - and risks - in advertising through social media, according to the latest State of the Net quarterly bulletin.

The study found that social media was now an established part of the marketing armoury and was primarily used for relationship building, to create brand awareness and for listening to and monitoring online conversations about companies, brands and people.
