Ireland’s ski-tour operators are breathing a sigh of relief as snow has started to fall across Europe in time for Christmas and new-year holidaymakers.

Ireland’s ski-tour operators are breathing a sigh of relief as snow has started to fall across Europe in time for Christmas and new-year holidaymakers.

Anthony Collins, chief executive of Directski.com, said he was confident that most ski slopes would be open by next weekend, when the firm carries its first major load of passengers.

‘‘This weekend, we have maybe 50 people on the slopes; next weekend, it will be 2,000,” he said....
