Snowden seeks asylum; retracts Russian bid

Snowden: seeks asylum

Edward Snowden has retracted his application for asylum in Russia, after conditions were attached to his remaining there.

However it emerged overnight that the former National Security Agency contractor has sought political asylum in a total of 21 countries, including Ireland.

WikiLeaks’ legal advisor on Snowden, Sarah Harrison, submitted the requests by hand to an official at the Russian consulate at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, Wikileaks said.
