The British operation of Smyths Toys paid out £2.9 million (€3.6 million) in dividends last year after recording a pre-tax profit of £2.4 million, a 15 per cent increase on the previous year.
The company is a subsidiary of Smyths Toys, the family-owned Galway firm which owns a chain of 61 stores in Britain and Ireland.
The rise in British profits was attributed in the accounts to new store openings.
