The Health Service Executive (HSE) last week cast doubt on the plan by a consortium led by solicitor and property developer Noel Smyth to build the National Children’s Hospital, saying that his plans did not meet the executive’s requirements.
Smyth has offered to build the hospital on a not-for-profit basis, in a move which he says will save the taxpayer €250 million.
