Smurfit Kappa to invest €115m in British plant

Irish packaging giant Smurfit Kappa Group is to invest €115 million in upgrading its Townsend Hook paper mill in England.

Irish packaging giant Smurfit Kappa Group is to invest €115 million in upgrading its Townsend Hook paper mill in England.

The investment will see the company install a modern, lightweight recycled containerboard machine that will have an installed capacity of 260,000 tonnes and will replace two existing containerboard machines with a current combined capacity of 240,000 tonnes.

The installation is being undertaken to meet growing demand for lower weight, high performance packaging papers in Ireland and Britain....
