A new investment firm chaired by former minister Michael Smith plans to raise €30 million to buy agricultural land as far a field as Argentina, the US and Serbia.

Agricultural Capital Partners (ACP) hopes to complete the fundraising before the end of March and plans to invest in large-scale farms on several continents. Jim McCarthy, a founder and director of ACP, said that the fund would make its returns from the output of the farms...
