Little Beauty by Alison Jameson. Doubleday Ireland, €16.35. Reviewed by Joanne Hayden.
Little Beauty
.....
Much of Alison Jameson's new novel is set on the fictional Whale Island off the west coast of Ireland. Her protagonist Laura Quinn, may be a native but, like a beached whale, she is out of her element and extremely vulnerable. An orphan since the age of 13, she has little regard for social conventions and so falls prey to the judgments and ridicule of the islanders.
