Pension fund savers with self-administered schemes are ramping up their investments in Irish small businesses as their advisers steer them away from volatile international stock markets, according to pension industry sources.

They say that more than 20 per cent of new equity investments coming from these schemes are going into Irish SMEs as investors look for easy-to-understand allocations with potentially high returns.
