Strong cost controls helped drive profit growth at Independent News & Media (INM) in the first six months of the year, as revenue growth was hampered by currency fluctuations.

Chief operating officer Gavin O’Reilly said revenue growth for the second half was expected to be in the low-to-mid single digits, although analysts said several challenges faced the group.
