Domhnal Slattery, the Irish aviation tycoon, is mounting a Supreme Court challenge in relation to a $10 million dispute with Friends First Life Assurance over a $173 million US hotel deal.

Slattery, the chief executive of Avolon Aerospace, recently lost a High Court case challenging personal guarantees over loans from Friends First arising from the 2007 purchase of the upmarket St Regis hotel in Washington.

However, a stay has now been put on the judgment pending an appeal...
