Sky expected to resist BCI regulation

Sky Television is set to strongly resist efforts by the broadcasting watchdog to regulate part of its service for Irish-based customers.

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) is proceeding with plans to introduce rules for Electronic Programme Guides (EPG) available in Ireland. These are the on-screen TV guides used by digital and satellite providers.

The new rules could mean Sky would be forced to prioritise Irish stations on its EPG.
