Cork band Fred fought to be taken seriously in the past, but their impressive and melodic new album has seen them throw off the shackles of a rocky past and embrace a more mature reality
‘Some of the melancholy on this record comes from what’s been going on in the last two or three years in Ireland,” says Joe O’Leary, singer and guitarist with the decade-old Cork-based quintet, Fred. ‘‘Musicians are like sponges and, over the six to nine months we were making this album, Ireland was in turmoil.
