Where would civilisation be without those essentials for a well-dressed dining table – silver soup plates or, indeed, silver lobster picks? Both will go under the hammer at Adam’s this Sunday. The George III soup plates possibly have the mark of William Pitts, silversmith to the monarch (€3,000-€5,000), while a fine cased set of lobster picks will be sold with a set of Art Nouveau-style coffee spoons (€300-€500).
