Jason Miller and Aiden McDonnell: Following a long decline, things are finally looking better for the retail property sector
After the longest decline ever experienced in the Irish retail market there are now significant signs of an emerging recovery. Retail sales have continued to improve throughout the year in both volume and value. This improvement has now lasted for a sustained period of 18 months, although it should be noted volume increases are substantially ahead of value increases, indicating there is continued pressure on retailers’ margins.
