A new executive chairman is to be appointed to head AIB, with a short list already drawn up by the National Treasury Management Agency.

Having announced its intention to take a majority stake in the bank, Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan said this weekend that the government would now move quickly to appoint new management.

A team to assist the current management and oversee the changeover to state ownership is expected to move in shortly....
