Ship-shape for Ocean Race

Galway will be the final port of call for the Volvo Ocean Race, which means a major windfall for the region

There’s still a year to go and the race hasn’t even started yet, but preparations are well und e r way for a ‘‘massive party’’ in Galway when the Volvo Ocean Race returns in July 2012.

After hosting a successful stopover two years ago, which was estimated to be worth €55 million to the local economy, Galway was selected as the final port for the 2011/2012 event.
