Could 2012 be the year the house price collapse ends? Sherry Fitzgerald's chief economist says prices are at 2001 levels now

Main points from Sherry FitzGerald Group on current market conditions:

* Dublin house prices have fallen in real terms by 62.3 per cent, while the national market has corrected by 57.5 per cent from peak 2006 levels.

* The Cork market saw prices fall by 3.4% in the last three months, bringing the results for the twelve months to September to minus 12.9 per cent.
