Shell pipeline works ‘without consent’: Inspectors

Government inspectors have found that Shell has carried out unauthorised works at Rossport, Co Mayo, backing up claims made by the five men imprisoned for their protests against the Shell pipeline.

Government inspectors have found that Shell has carried out unauthorised works at Rossport, Co Mayo, backing up claims made by the five men imprisoned for their protests against the Shell pipeline.

A senior official in the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources wrote to Shell chairman Andy Pyle on behalf of minister Noel Dempsey yesterday, warning him about the unauthorised development and demanding an explanation.
