Cash-strapped Shelbourne Football Club is in talks with multi-millionaire accountant Ossie Kilkenny about a rescue package.

Kilkenny, the one-time accountant to rock band U2, is prepared to finance the club for the coming season and pay off some of Shelbourne’s historic debts. In return, Kilkenny will retain an option to buy the club’s ground in north Dublin.
