In Dublin, the ISEQ closed down

European shares turned lower in later trade as a report showed the jobless rate in the US dropped by less than expected in the last month.

In Dublin, the ISEQ index closed down 0.4 per cent at 3,210.53 points.

Shares in Independent News & Media were slightly ahead amid rumours that chief executive Gavin O'Reilly was set to step down; the announcement came as trading closed.
