European stocks closed lower on Tuesday as the OECD called on the European Central Bank to cut interest rates to fight low inflation. Continued violence in Ukraine and mixed earnings across the board were also on the minds of investors.

European stocks closed lower on Tuesday as the OECD called on the European Central Bank to cut interest rates to fight low inflation. Continued violence in Ukraine and mixed earnings across the board were also on the minds of investors.

Dutch mail company PostNL NV jumped 10 per cent after it reported a profit for the first quarter of 2014 and lifted its expectations for the remainder of the year.
