Share report: Providence shares rise as Elan falls

European and US shares were mixed but the ISEQ fell again as a rise Providence Resources was not enough to outweigh a fall in Elan.

European shares reverse early losses as car makers rally

Most European shares recovered some ground by the close despite earlier falls as reports showed the British economy shrank the most in three years last quarter and US new-house sales unexpectedly dropped last month.

In London, the FTSE finished unchanged, while in Frankfurt, the DAX was up 0.3 per cent. In Paris, the CAC was up 0.2 per cent. BT Group slid 3.3 per cent after Britain’s largest fixed-line phone company posted falling sales. Drax...
