European stocks declined for a third day amid investor concern that the impasse over the US budget and debt limit may lead to a default.

European stocks declined for a third day amid investor concern that the impasse over the US budget and debt limit may lead to a default.

In Dublin, the Iseq index was down 0.4 per cent. London’s FTSE was also down 0.4 per cent, while in Frankfurt the DAX was unchanged. In Paris, the CAC was down 0.1 per cent.

Royal Bank of Scotland Group lost 0.8 per cent as it was said to have passed records...
