European shares dropped the most in two weeks as the European Central Bank damped speculation it would step up purchases of government bonds and regulators said lenders need to raise more capital than previously forecast.

Dublin’s ISEQ index slipped 1.2 per cent. CRH lost 3.4 per cent, Smurfit Kappa lost 3.4 per cent and Elan was down 2.1 per cent.
