Shannon airport will be granted full independence from Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and merged with a restructured Shannon Development next year to form a new, publicly-owned commercial entity.

The move is expected to result in the creation of 850 jobs at two Shannon-based companies as part of the establishment of an International Aviation Services Centre, the government has said.
