Shake-up on cards for TV ratings system

The Irish television ratings system is to be reworked to reflect changing viewer habits, including increased use of personal video recorders like the Sky Plus service.

The Irish television ratings system is to be reworked to reflect changing viewer habits, including increased use of personal video recorders like the Sky Plus service.

Fred O’Connell, general manager of AGB Nielsen, which provides ratings for the television industry, said that while the existing framework was adequate, the pace of change in the industry justified ongoing re-evaluation of the way things were done.
