Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), the state body that has a €646 million budget to fund scientific research, is to carry out a major review of its internal financial controls.

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), the state body that has a €646 million budget to fund scientific research, is to carry out a major review of its internal financial controls.

The agency, which has allocated more than half its budget since its foundation five years ago, wants to ensure it allocates public funds correctly. It is set to appoint a team of business consultants to review the effectiveness of its current financial system.
