SFI invested €152m in research during 2013, report shows

Science Foundation Ireland invested €152 million in 307 new research awards to 20 institutions in Ireland during 2013, it said in its annual report, published today.

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) invested €152 million in 307 new research awards to 20 institutions in Ireland during 2013, it said in its annual report, published today.

The investment supported 2,656 researchers through SFI programmes last year and saw 54 patents registered, 27 technologies licensed and four spin off companies created, it said. SFI funded researchers were also involved in 1,955 national and international collaborations in 48 countries and they attracted €56 million in EU research funding.
