The director of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), Mark Ferguson, has defended his €190,000 salary, saying that it ensured “parity of esteem” with the heads of the IDA and Enterprise Ireland.
The salary was €20,000 in excess of what had been allocated for the role in 2011.
