SMEs around Ireland are seeing the benefits of investing in the implementation and development of standards, according to Maurice Buckley, chief executive of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).

''Implementing certified standards in their businesses gives Irish companies a distinct competitive advantage, said Buckley.

''We are seeing a growing trend where European and international customers expect certification to standards as an entry level for doing business with them, he said.
