Stormy conditions are expected to continue for much of Friday, with Met Eireann issuing a status red warning for coastal counties in the south and south west.

Severe and damaging gusts of up to 140 kilometres an hour continue to cause power outages and to hamper travel right across the country this morning. The winds will start to ease early this afternoon but it will continue very windy in the east and north, it said.
